MAP: Flood control projects in Visayas

<p>Here is a map of all the flood control projects that were supposedly completed in 16 provinces in Visayas between July 2022 and May 2025.</p><p>The data was extracted on August 12, 2025 from the Sumbong sa Pangulo website, a day after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. launched the platform. The website came after Marcos ordered the probe of flood control projects at his fourth State of the Nation Address, following massive flooding in various areas in the country.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/15/what-marcos-s-data-on-flood-control-projects-tells-us-2115" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">What Marcos’s data on flood control projects tells us</a></div><p>In Visayas, the 1,630 flood control projects amounted to P84.4 billion and made up 15% of all projects in the country. These projects were initiated at various times between September 2018 and February 2025.</p><p>Cebu tops the list with the most projects at 414, followed by Leyte and Negros Occidental, each with over 200 projects. Iloilo and Negros Oriental each have at least 100 projects. Meanwhile, Siquijor and Guimaras have the fewest projects, with only four and seven, respectively.</p><p>The flood control projects in Visayas were contracted to 411 companies. Some projects had one contractor, others had more than one.</p><p>The QM Builders leads among 411 contractors in project count, followed by Legacy Construction Corporation. The former carried out 96 projects totaling P7.7 billion, while the latter handled 78 projects costing P5.4 billion.</p><p>Nearly all of the projects of QM Builders in Visayas were implemented in Cebu and totaled P7.6 billion. It also has two projects in Negros Oriental with a combined value of P106.8. million. Among its projects is the revetment wall along the Mananga River in Talisay City. Each side of the wall—left and right—was funded with P148.5 million.</p><p>Nearly half of the projects of Legacy Construction Corporation in Visayas are in Negros Occidental, totaling P2.8 billion. This includes the P88.3-million slope protection work on the Binalbagan Riverbank. The company also has 22 projects in Negros Oriental and 19 in Cebu.</p><p>Below are all the projects in Visayas.
