MANILA - Immigration agents have arrested a Chinese national found to be misrepresenting himself as a Filipino citizen. Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said Chen Zhong Zhen, 60, was arrested last August 21 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.  Chen arrived on board a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong when he was intercepted by frontline immigration officers.The Chinese national is the subject of a mission order and an investigation from the BI, after the agency received a tip from government intelligence sources regarding his alleged illegally-acquired Philippine documents.He was found to be using a Philippine passport issued in 2021, and was in possession of several Philippine identity cards claiming that he is a Filipino.But the BI&#x27;s Alien Registration Division was able to confirm that his fingerprints matched that of a Chinese citizen, who previously held a long-term visa and an Alien Certificate Registration Identity Card.Chen reportedly owns major businesses in the country, and has joined different economic and business groups.“Without naturalization, a foreign national is not eligible to get Philippine citizenship documents,” said Viado.  “Government intelligence sources have reason to believe that this is another case of assumed Philippine identity, similar to that of Alice Guo.”Chen faces a deportation case for misrepresentation, and is currently held at the BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig.
