However, the release and publication of SALNs could prove difficult.</p><p>In 2020, the anti-graft Office of the Ombudsman issued a memorandum that allowed the release of SALNs only for official investigations, by court order, or upon authority from officials themselves.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/28/candidates-for-ombudsman-open-to-review-strict-rules-on-saln-disclosures-1412">Candidates for Ombudsman open to review strict rules on SALN disclosures</a></div><p>Scrutiny of SALNs may lead to the discovery of ill-gotten or unexplained wealth.</p><p>Malacanang also welcomed the growing public scrutiny over the lifestyles of family members of government officials and contractors being questioned over the controversial infrastructure projects.</p><p>Filipinos online have called out the children of big-time contractors and government officials, whose display of wealth had fueled public speculation that their lifestyles were allegedly funded by taxpayer money.</p><p>“Iyon naman din po talaga ang naisin ng Pangulong Marcos Jr. na lahat-lahat po tayo ay magtulungan upang masawata itong mga korapsiyon na ito,&quot; Castro said. </p><p>&quot;At hindi lamang po ang gobyerno, ang pamahalaan ang dapat kumilos kung hindi ang taumbayan na nakakaalam ng mga nangyayari sa paligid nila.
