<p>MANILA (UPDATED) — Relieved Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III said public pity should not go to him and should instead be directed towards Filipinos plagued by <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/8/26/coa-orders-inspection-of-ongoing-completed-flood-control-projects-in-bulacan-1800">perennial flooding.</a></p><p>Torre said that he was “okay” despite his “abrupt” removal as head of the PNP. </p><p>“Salamat din sa mga naawa sa akin, ngunit hinihiling ko sa inyo, ‘wag n’yo akong kaawaan… Kung meron man tayong dapat kaawaan, yun ay ang milyun-milyon nating kababayan na paulit-ulit na nagiging biktima ng palagiang pagbaha,” Torre said in a video statement addressing his supporters. </p><p>“Sila ang tunay na nangangailangan ng tulong at kalinga sa panahon ngayon sapagkat hindi naman sila ang dapat laging nagdudusa at naghihirap tuwing tag-ulan,” he added. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/29/akbayan-pickets-discayas-st-gerrard-firm-over-flood-control-projects-1347">Akbayan pickets Discayas&#x27; St. Gerrard firm over flood control projects</a><br/><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/29/richard-gomez-claims-media-spin-after-reporters-sought-his-side-on-flood-issue-0838">Richard Gomez claims &#x27;media spin&#x27; after reporters sought his side on flood issue</a></div><p>Torre reiterated that he had no ill will towards President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.</p><p>“Nauunawaan ko na kailangan niyang gumawa ng mga mabibigat na desisyon at ang pagkaalis ko bilang Chief of the Philippine National Police ay isa lamang sa mga ito,” he said. </p><p>“Pulis pa rin naman ako. Randulf Tuaño said Friday. </p><p>Tuaño said the PHAU is responsible for the daily accounting and custody of personnel-related reports, as well as the management of officers assigned to it.</p><p>“Ang ordinaryong proseso po ng mga nasa PHAU ay nagrereport po sila araw-araw, pumipirma sila ng attendance. ‘Yon po ‘yong usual na proseso na, ayon naman po kay Director Chinayog, kung ano po ‘yong proseso ng mga regular na nasa PHAU ay ganoon din po ang magiging proseso,” Tuaño said.</p><p>He added that personnel assigned to PHAU are often tapped as parade elements or detailed at the PNP Command Center in Camp Crame.</p><p>“Kung mapapansin ninyo, halimbawa noong mga nakaraang panahon po pagka may mga parades po tayo, sila po ‘yong nagiging elements, sila ‘yong nagiging troop commanders or battalion commanders. Torre was replaced by Lt. Gen.
