Pabalate / PPA Pool</em></span></span></span></div><p>NEW DELHI, India — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in India together with the Philippine delegation for his five-day state visit.</p><p>The president plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi at 2:20 p.m. (local time) on Monday, August 4.</p><p>He together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos were greeted by Indian officials and were welcomed by a traditional Indian dance.</p><p>Marcos Jr. then proceeded to the Taj Mahal Hotel for a courtesy call with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for the state visit’s briefing.</p><p>He will then meet with the Filipino community in India in the evening.</p><p>The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier said that there are around 200 Filipinos largely concentrated in New Delhi, while there are an estimated 1,356 Filipinos registered in India.</p><p>On Tuesday, August 5, the president will meet with President of India Droupadi Murmu.</p><p>He will then have a bilateral meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi where the two leaders will discuss “closer cooperation in economic, defense and security, political cooperation, trade, investment and economic cooperation, and how to further invigorate people-to-people exchanges.”</p><p>A joint press statement will be delivered after the meeting.</p><p>Marcos Jr. will also meet with the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chairman and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda.</p><p>The BJP leads the National Democratic Alliance and is the ruling and largest political party in India.</p><p>The chief executive will also hold business meetings each in New Delhi and Bangalore dubbed as the “Silicon Valley of India” in the coming days.</p><p>The Philippines and India are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/L2plOoWIN-s?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
