Imee Marcos says no 'family feud', but jokes about dropping Romualdez name

<p>MANILA — Sen.Imee Marcos maintained she is not in a family feud with her brother President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr, sister-in-law First Lady Liza Marcos and cousin Speaker Martin Romualdez despite her scathing remarks against the House chief.</p><p>This as she explained her vote to archive the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte. </p><p>&quot;Wala namang personal dito... Walang family feud. Ang issue talaga ay politika at prinsipyo na maraming naghihirap sa ating taumbayan,&quot; Marcos told the Kapihan sa Senado.</p><p>(This is nothing personal... There is no family feud. Marcos said she referenced her cousin in her speech because Senate President Francis &quot;Chiz&quot; Escudero had already made the case for the majority and she felt she needed to &quot;talk about the monster in the room.&quot;</p><p>Vice President Duterte and her supporters have attributed her legal troubles to Romualdez&#x27;s supposed ambition to be president.</p><p>Duterte is seen as the likely frontrunner in the 2028 presidential elections and she said corruption allegations against her are meant to keep her from Malacañang.</p><p>&quot;Bakit? Bawal ba sabihin ang katotohanan? Unparliamentary ba magsaad ng totoo?&quot; Sen. Marcos said of her jabs at her cousin, the House speaker.</p><p>(Aren&#x27;t we allowed to say the truth? Pero maraming nag-iintay ng basbas, di ba? Nung araw ng SONA, maraming nag-aabang. Eh, nababalitaan ko rin yung mga umaalma,&quot; she said.</p><p>(There is a lot of rumbling and they are waiting for a go-signal, right? On the day of the SONA, many were watching for a sign.
