MANILA — The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) has arrested 11 kidnapping suspects and rescued a 78-year-old Filipino businesswoman who was held captive for over a week. According to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the victim was abducted along C3 Road in Quezon City on September 2, 2025, by suspects who later demanded a P150-million ransom from her family.“Businesswoman siya, belonging to a large industrial family. They are involved in the manufacture of industrial goods and she was kidnapped on her way out of her work,” Remulla said during a press briefing at PNP Camp Crame.The victim was allegedly detained in a “safehouse” in Laurel, Batangas.Remulla said the victim’s family sought help from the PNP-AKG after receiving the ransom demand.On September 11, the suspects brought the victim to a bank in Quezon City to withdraw P8.1 million from her account.“The bank operators knew of the situation and contacted the PNP and within minutes, the PNP arrived and arrested the 3 suspects and rescued the kidnap victim,” Remulla said.“Successful operation ng AKG kasi sinunod nila ‘yung protocol and they were buying time hanggang nainip na ata ‘yung mga kidnappers at pumunta ng diretso sa bangko.”Follow-up operations the same day led to the arrest of eight more suspects, including two former Marines and an ex-Army personnel believed to be their co-conspirators.He added that the victim, who was held for nine days, has undergone debriefing and appears to be in good health, though she will receive psychological counseling.Remulla said the suspects will be charged with kidnapping-for-ransom, while investigators are still tracking down the masterminds behind the plot.
