Photo from the Office of Faustino Dy III"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Isabela 6th District Representative Faustino &quot;Bojie&quot; Dy III. <em>Photo from the Office of Faustino Dy III</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATE</strong>) — A leadership change looms at the House of Representatives, several sources have confirmed to ABS-CBN News. </p><p>Multiple sources said that as of Tuesday evening, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has agreed to resign from his post as leader of the lower chamber on September 17, a day after his meeting in Malacañang.</p><p>House Deputy Speaker and Isabela 6th District Representative Faustino &quot;Bojie&quot; Dy III will reportedly be elected as the new House Speaker, replacing Romualdez.</p><p>&quot;Tomorrow (Wednesday), Speaker Romualdez will resign as Speaker but will remain as House member,&quot; one source said. </p><p>&quot;Cong. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives during the opening of the first regular session of the 20th  Congress on July 28, 2025. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></strong></div><p>Another source said that Romualdez met with the leaders of different parties on Tuesday, ahead of his expected resignation as House Speaker.</p><p>&quot;Nagpaalam na siya,&quot; the source, who attended the meeting, told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>Other sources confirmed reports that Romualdez went to Malacañang on Tuesday afternoon to discuss with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. his plan to take a leave of absence from the House after he was tagged as among those involved in the anomalous awarding of flood control projects contracts to dubious contractors.</p><p>House members are discussing various scenarios once Romualdez tenders his resignation on Wednesday, sources said.</p><p>Among the possibilities being considered is revamping the entire House leadership, including a shakeup of committee chairmanships, several sources told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco earlier told reporters that if ever there will be a change of leadership, it will possibly happen on Wednesday.</p><p>&quot;Kasi walang sesyon ng Huwebes. So if ever magkakaroon ng change, baka bukas &#x27;yun,&quot; Tiangco told reporters in a chance interview hours before Romualdez&#x27;s belongings were removed from the Speaker&#x27;s office.</p><p>The House shakeup comes a week after government contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya implicated Romualdez and other congressmen in alleged anomalies in flood control projects — which they denied. </p><p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday said his cousin Romualdez and their allies in Congress &quot;will not be spared&quot; from an independent investigation into infrastructure anomalies in the last decade.</p><p>Meanwhile, Cavite Fourth District Rep.
