Jinggoy reiterates innocence from corruption allegations

<p>MANILA — Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Thursday again denied allegations from former Bulacan assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez that he received kickbacks in flood control projects.</p><p>During the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on anomalous flood control projects, Estrada read his statement before questioning Hernandez, former Bulacan district engineer Henry Alcantara and WJ Construction&#x27;s Mina Elamparo-Jose.</p><p>He branded the engineer&#x27;s allegations as &quot;plain lies&quot; and &quot;attacks&quot; from Hernandez himself or a supposed &quot;handler&quot; that he said was prompted by his attempt to expose anomalies in the projects.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/9/ex-dpwh-engineer-tags-estrada-villanueva-in-alleged-flood-control-anomalies-1055">Ex-DPWH engineer tags Estrada, Villanueva in flood control anomalies; senators deny allegations</a></div><p>Estrada added that Hernandez&#x27;s admission that he used a fake driver&#x27;s license to gamble at casinos casts doubt on his credibility.</p><p>&quot;Walang katotohanan o basehan ang kaniyang &#x27;di umanoy takot na maibalik sa Senado,&quot; the senator said.</p><p>(There is no basis for him to say he is afraid to come back to the Senate)</p><p>&quot;Nandito ako ngayon para harapin ang nag-aakusa sa akin at hamunin siya na ulitin at patunayan sa harap nitong Blue Ribbon Committee, at sa harapan ko, lahat ng kasinungalingan na binitawan niya under oath sa House Tricom Hearing.&quot;</p><p>(I am here now to face my accuser and to challenge him to repeat the accusations he made under oath at the House before the Blue Ribbon Committee and to my face)</p><p>Estrada also recalled that <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/18/alcantara-cited-in-contempt-for-allegedly-lying-over-bulacan-ghost-projects-1129">the committee cited Hernandez in contempt</a> after allegedly lying about his casino habits.</p><p>&quot;Sa pagdinig ng Blue Ribbon bago ang pagdinig ng Tri Com, I moved to cite him in contempt. This committee finding him lying under oath ordered this detention,&quot; he added.</p><p>The senator earlier<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/9/jinggoy-threatens-to-sue-ex-dpwh-engineer-who-accused-him-of-corruption-1519"> threatened to sue Hernandez </a>and even dared him to take a lie detector test over his corruption claims.</p><p>Hernandez, since dismissed from the Department of Public Works and Highways, alleged that Estrada and Sen.
