Faustino &quot;Bojie&quot; Dy III as House speaker will lead to meaningful change, saying it was planned by House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, the former speaker.</p><p>Sandro Marcos is the son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., while Romualdez is a cousin of the President.</p><p>Rep. Marcos has said Dy&#x27;s election was decided during a meeting of party leaders.</p><p>Romualdez quit his post as House speaker after being implicated in alleged corruption in flood control projects, an allegation he has denied.</p><p>&quot;The issues surrounding certain infrastructure projects have raised questions that weigh not only upon me, but upon this institution we all serve,&quot; Romualdez said.</p><p>Dy vowed that the House would change under his leadership and that he would not defend the guilty or the corrupt.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/17/isabela-rep-faustino-dy-iii-is-new-house-speaker-1819"><strong>Isabela Rep. Faustino Dy III is new House speaker<br/></strong></a></div><p>In an ambush interview in Davao City on Thursday, Duterte said that the leadership change at the House was only meant to show the lower chamber was doing something to address public anger toward the alleged massive corruption.</p><p>&quot;Pero ang totoo niyan, sila lang din &#x27;yan,&quot; Duterte said.</p><p>(But, in truth, it&#x27;s still the same people)</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;DY PART OF MARCOS-ROMUALDEZ CIRCLE&#x27;</strong></div><p>While Dy is a &quot;good person,&quot; Duterte pointed out that the new House speaker is part of the Marcos-Romualdez circle.</p><p>Dy is a member of President Marcos&#x27;s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and was a deputy speaker to Romualdez.</p><p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday however said that <a href="http://​https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/15/marcos-romualdez-allies-will-not-be-spared-in-independent-probe-on-flood-control-projects-1039">Romualdez and their allies in Congress would not be spared</a> by an independent investigation into flood control and other infrastructure projects in the last decade.</p><p>Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco, the President&#x27;s cousin-in-law, earlier claimed that Romualdez and former House Appropriations chairman Zaldy Co were behind the billions of pesos in insertions that funded infrastructure programs that were either substandard or non-existent. Co has also denied the allegation.</p><p>Earlier, Rep. Marcos slammed Sara Duterte&#x27;s brother, Davao City 1st District Rep.
