Sen. Robin Padilla on Wednesday urged fellow senators to take a short break from the issue of flood control as he pushed his Senate Bill No. 20, an act establishing at least one nursing home per city or province for senior citizens.In his privilege speech, Padilla said the issue of elderly care is close to his heart, noting that his mom - actress Lolita Eva Carino - has advanced dementia.“Ito po ay napakapersonal sa akin sapagkat ang akin pong ina ay 90 years old at siya po ay nasa advanced dementia ngayon,” he said.Citing government data, Padilla said that as of May 2020, the Philippines has 12.3 million Filipinos ages 60 and above, comprising 11.31 percent of the population.
