<p>MANILA — For the first time in history, the Church announced that the andas of Jesus Nazareno would temporarily remain at the Minor Basilica and Parish of San Sebastian beyond 4 a.m. on Saturday, January 10.</p><p>Despite this, devotees persisted in pulling the ropes of the Traslacion back to its traditional route toward Quiapo Church.</p><p>As scheduled, the 10-year tradition of “Dungaw” was held at Plaza Del Carmen, where the image of Jesus Nazareno is brought to meet the image of his mother, Nuestra Señora del Carmen.</p><p>The ceremony proceeded peacefully until San Sebastian Church rector and parish priest Fr. Jade Licuanan announced the unprecedented decision to keep the andas at the church.</p><p>&quot;Sa ilang sandali lamang po ipapasok na natin ang ating Mahal na Poong Hesus Nazareno sa simbahan ng San Sebastian na tahanan ng kanyang Ina at sa Simabahan naman po ng Quiapo ay ilalabas naman po ang pinakamalaking at isa sa mga pinakamagandang replica ng ating Mahal na Poong Hesus Nazareno, ang Cabeza, doon po tayo lahat pupunta mga deboto mga kapatid,&quot; Fr. Milagro sa ming mga deboto,” Ong shared.</p><p>Likewise, Ernesto Udani has been visiting Plaza Del Carmen annually for the past 10 years, a tradition he began while still in high school.
