House of Representatives/File" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co. <em>House of Representatives/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) -- The Sandiganbayan Sixth Division has declared former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co as a &quot;fugitive from justice,&quot; a document showed. </p><p>In a 16-page resolution dated Feb. 3, the division partially granted the prosecution&#x27;s urgent ex-parte motion to declare him as a fugitive. </p><p>This means, the division said, Co &quot;cannot participate in the instant proceedings and seek any judicial relief from the court.&quot; </p><p>Aside from this, the Sixth Division said he is not entitled to notices &quot;until his voluntary surrender.&quot; </p><p>Co faces a warrant of arrest issued by the Sandiganbayan after being charged with graft and malversation over an allegedly anomalous road dike project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. </p><p>Earlier today, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) submitted the supplemental documents required by the Interpol before the deadline on February 11 regarding Co, a central figure in flood control project anomalies. </p><p>The red notice request through Interpol is intended to alert international law enforcement agencies to help locate and apprehend Co.  </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/11/sandiganbayan-division-officially-declares-zaldy-co-a-fugitive-1943">READ: NBI submits additional requirements to Interpol for red notice vs Zaldy Co</a></div><p>Co is reportedly in Portugal, with Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla previously saying that the former lawmaker could have obtained Portuguese citizenship through the country’s Golden Visa program, which allows foreign nationals to acquire residency and eventually citizenship through substantial investments.</p><p>On Tuesday, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said that Co has been sending &quot;<a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/21/zaldy-co-sent-feelers-to-priests-wants-dialogue-with-ph-authorities-dilg-chief-1245">feelers</a>,&quot; despite denials from the latter&#x27;s lawyer. </p><p>The ombudsman previously said that he has been approached by several people claiming the former congressman wanted to engage in dialogue.
