<div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1788903741783945%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>MANILA — Malacanang on Friday said talks that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. could endorse former Vice President Leni Robredo in the 2028 elections remained “untimely” for now. </p><p>“Suhestyon na igagalang, patawad, pero hindi napapanahon,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said when asked about supposition that endorsement from Marcos could thwart Vice President Sara Duterte’s presidential bid.  </p><p>“So, ang lumalabas sa opinyon ni Professor Antonio Contreras ay former VP Leni versus VP Sara? So, ang lumalabas ay aksiyon versus bakasyon? Nagtatrabaho versus hindi nagtatrabaho? Pro-Philippines versus not pro-any country?” added added, seemingly taking a dig against the incumbent Vice President.</p><p>Duterte has been heavily criticized by Malacañang for her personal trips abroad to meet with overseas Filipino workers and visit her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing crimes against humanity charges at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the Netherlands.</p><p>The Office of the Vice President earlier maintained that Duterte’s overseas trips complied with Philippine laws and government regulations.</p><p>She also had said that she was “not pro-any country at all” in response to Malacañang criticizing her as pro-China.</p><p>Meanwhile, former election rivals Marcos and Robredo <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/19/marcos-robredo-to-meet-in-naga-palace-1408">will meet on February 21</a>. The President will visit anti-flood operations along the Sagop Creek, one of the critical waterways in Naga, where Robredo is mayor, the Palace said Thursday. </p><p>Their meeting comes days after <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/18/sara-duterte-to-run-for-president-1102">Duterte announced that she would run for president</a> and apologized for teaming up with Marcos in the 2025 elections that saw their landslide victory. </p><p>— Report from Harlene Delgado, ABS-CBN News </p><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
