Jonas Sulit, PPA pool/File</div>MANILA -- The demo run of the Metro Manila Subway is now set in 2028, with full operations expected by 2033.In the Palace Press briefing on Tuesday, Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr met with Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez to talk about easing commuter woes.&quot;Nagbigay naman ng direktiba si Pangulong Marcos Jr. sa kalihim na gawing prayoridad ang kapakanan ng commuters, panatilihing malinis at maaliwalas ang mga pasilidad, at siguruhing reliable at on-time ang mga tren sa lahat ng oras,&quot; Castro said.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/9/metro-manila-subway-s-right-of-way-90-percent-cleared-dotr-1252">READ: Metro Manila Subway&#x27;s right-of-way 90 percent cleared -- DOTr</a></div>Partial operations of the North-South Commuter Railway is also expected next year.&quot;Inaasahang magsisimula na ang partial operations ng North-South Commuter Railway sa 2027 para sa rutang Valenzuela hanggang Malolos, Bulacan at 2028 naman para sa ruta ng Malolos hanggang Clark,&quot; Castro said.&quot;2027 din ang target na partial operations ng MRT 7 na magdurugtong sa Quezon City at Bulacan,&quot; she added.Meanwhile, the DOTr also proposed lengthening the validity of new car registration to 5 years, which according to Castro, was initially approved by the president.&quot;Sa parehong meeting kasama ang Pangulo ay iminungkahi din ni Secretary Lopez na gawing five years ang validity ng registration ng mga bagong sasakyan – isang reporma na malaki ang dalang ginhawa para sa ating mga motorista,&quot; Castro ended.
