ICC Handout</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>NEW YORK — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remains uninterested in the Philippines rejoining the International Criminal Court, Malacañang said. </p><p>“Hindi nagbabago ‘yung stance ng Pangulo – hindi pa rin po tayo ngayon magre-rejoin sa ICC,” Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a press briefing Monday, March 9 in New York on the sidelines of Marcos’ three-day working visit.</p><p>Asked why, Castro responded, “‘Yan lang ang binitawan sa akin na salita ng Pangulo.”</p><p>In 2022, just two months in office, Marcos said the Philippines had no intention of rejoining the ICC. </p><p>However, almost a year later, the chief executive told reporters that returning to the fold of the ICC was “under study” and that “[they] will just keep looking at it and see what [other] options are.”</p><p>In 2025, Malacañang said Marcos has yet to raise the issue of the Philippines possibly rejoining the international tribunal, but added that the Chief Executive usually “listens” to public sentiment.</p><p>The Philippines officially withdrew from the ICC in 2019 just as the international tribunal was about to look into allegations of extrajudicial killings during then-President Rodrigo Duterte’s bloody war on drugs.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/3/doj-no-legal-prohibition-on-ph-gov-t-coordination-with-icc-1616">DOJ: No legal prohibition on PH gov’t coordination with ICC</a></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO: </strong><br/><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Nouiu6J8_wc?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
