Handout/Bongbong Marcos Facebook Page" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivers a speech at the 70th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Headquarters, New York , USA on March 9, 2026. <em>Handout/Bongbong Marcos Facebook Page</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday announced the distribution of more cash subsidies to farmers and fisherfolk to ensure adequate food supply in the country.</p><p>This is in light of the Middle East conflict that triggered a huge spike on oil prices.</p><p>&quot;Ipagpapatuloy ng Department of Agriculture ang pamimigay ng P3000 na fuel subsidy sa mga magsasaka,&quot; Marcos said in a video statement.</p><p>&quot;Mahigit dalawamput anim na libong magsasaka ang mabibigyan nito,&quot; he said.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/3/16/peso-depreciates-to-new-record-low-again-1622">READ: Peso depreciates to new record low again, falls closer to 60 vs dollar</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/3/16/oil-rises-further-above-100-most-asian-stocks-fall-as-iran-war-rages-1844">READ: Oil rises further above $100, most Asian stocks fall as Iran war rages</a></div><p>This follows the announcement of fuel subsidy and <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/16/dswd-rollout-of-financial-aid-for-ncr-tricycle-drivers-starts-at-6am-1659">cash aids to tricycle drivers</a> which is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, March 17.</p><p>&quot;Para naman sa mangingisda, ang BFAR ay magbibigay sa Huwebes, March 19 ng P3,000 na fuel subsidy sa mahigit 26,000 na mangingisda,&quot; Marcos said.</p><p>On top of this, the Department of Agriculture will also distribute P2,000 Presidential Assistance to Farmers and Fisherfolk Program this April.</p><p>&quot;Magagamit po ito ng magsasaka sa kanilang hanapbuhay,&quot; Marcos said.</p><p>Marcos also said the local government support fund may also be used to purchase rice from farmers to be given to local communities.</p><p>He appealed to local government units to  ensure there will be no pass through fees that will be collected.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>TRANSPORTATION</strong></div><p>Marcos also laid down policy adjustments in transportation.</p><p>&quot;Babawasan ng CAAP ang singil sa passenger service charge, landing fee, parking fee, at iba pang fee,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;Ito ay makakatulong para bumaba ang gastos ng mga airline at ang mga pamasahe sa eroplano,&quot; Marcos added.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/16/house-oks-on-final-reading-bill-for-emergency-powers-on-fuel-excise-tax-1831">READ: House OKs on final reading bill for emergency powers on fuel excise tax</a></div><p>The Civil Aeronautics Board is also shortening the review period for fuel surcharge which will enable quicker adjustments to jet fuel, which influences plane fares.</p><p>Marcos also directed government agencies to review policies on permits and other transactions to see which ones can be suspended to help the public.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>APPEAL TO PUBLIC</strong></div><p>Marcos appealed to the public to help each other in this unprecedented time of crisis.</p><p>&quot;Ngayon, higit kailanman, kailangan natin ang pagtutulungan ng bawat isa. Walang iwanan, walang maiiwan sa pagharap natin sa hamong ito,&quot; the President said.</p><p>&quot;Asahan nyo ang patuloy naming paggawa ng hakbang upang maibsan ang mabigat na epekto ng kaganapan sa Gitnang Silangan sa taumbayan,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;Nawa&#x27;y manatili ang tiwala sa isa&#x27;t isa at ang pananampalataya na malampasan ang mga pagsubok,&quot; he ended.</p><div><br/></div><div></div>
