Amid a protest joined by transport workers and ordinary citizens, Modesto “Mody” Floranda, president of PISTON, stood with drivers calling for action against the continued rise in fuel prices.The gathering reflected the growing burden faced by drivers whose income continues to shrink while daily expenses rise.Floranda emphasized that the oil price crisis affects not only the transport sector but the public as a whole.“Kapag tumataas ang presyo ng langis, buong mamamayan ang nahihirapan,” he said.Drivers, commuters, and various groups united in demanding fair wages and adequate benefits, highlighting the need for government accountability and concrete solutions.“Karapatan naming mabuhay nang may dignidad at may sapat na kita para sa aming pamilya,” he added, stressing the struggles faced by transport workers.The protest also called for immediate measures to control fuel prices and prioritize public welfare over corporate interests. “Tungkulin ng pamahalaan na unahin ang kapakanan ng mamamayan,” Floranda said.As actions continued in different regions across the country, the message of unity remained clear: “Ang laban ng drayber ay laban ng buong bayan.”
