Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — About 4 in 5 Filipinos believe that the role of women in society is to look after her home and family, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Women’s Month. </p><p>The SWS said 83 percent agreed and 8 percent disagreed with the statement, “A man&#x27;s job is to earn money; a woman&#x27;s job is to look after home and family.” </p><p>Nine percent were undecided on the matter. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/1/-lead-like-the-babaylan-pcw-kickstarts-women-s-month-1243">&#x27;Lead Like the Babaylan:&#x27; PCW kickstarts Women&#x27;s Month</a></div><p>The November 24-30, 2025 survey also found that large majorities of adult Filipinos continue to agree with the following statements about women’s roles in the family.</p><div> </div><ul><li>“Being a housewife is just as fulfilling as working for pay”: 81 percent agreed, 11 percent disagreed, 7 percent were undecided </li><li>“A job is all right, but what most women really want is a home and children”: 75 percent agreed, 14 percent disagreed, 10 percent were undecided On the </li><li>“A working mother can establish just as warm and secure a relationship with her children as a mother who does not work”: 71 percent agreed, 18 percent disagreed, 10 percent were undecided   </li><li>“A pre-school child is likely to suffer if his or her mother works”: 63 percent agreed, 27 percent disagreed, 9 percent were undecided   </li><li>“All in all, family life suffers when the woman has a full-time job”: 51 percent agreed, 36 percent disagreed, twelve percent were undecided  </li></ul><div><br/></div><p>SWS noted that “men and women show similar net agreement on views about a woman’s role in the family, women’s aspirations, and working mothers’ relationship with their children.”</p><p>The pollster added that “public opinion on the role of women has been conservative for many years.” </p><p>The non-commissioned survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide.
