<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/177613862462320260413-marcos-running-jumping-against-misinformation-RC-7.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. runs from Gate 3 to Gate 4 of Malacañang Palace to show he is healthy and to debunk misinformation claiming he is unwell or deceased.  Revoli Cortez, PPA Pool </div>MANILA — A group of retired generals and other individuals asked the Supreme Court to compel Malacañang officials to disclose the “true state of the physical and mental health” of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. In their petition for mandamus filed last April 10, retired generals Romeo Poquiz and Carlos Quita and other former military officials and individuals of the United People’s Initiative asked the Office of the Executive Secretary, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez and presidential spokesperson Claire Castro to issue regular and timely medical bulletins.The group invoked Section 12 of Article VII of the Constitution which states that in case of serious illness of the President, the public should be informed of the state of his health. The petitioners mentioned “viral allegations” and “eyewitness accounts” claiming that the President was at St. Luke’s Hospital early this month.The statements of <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/13/palace-labels-imee-s-statement-on-marcos-jr-s-health-as-fake-news-1319">Sen. Imee Marcos </a>expressing concern over the President’s mental and emotional state were also cited in the petition.The Palace has consistently denied the President was ill and President Marcos was also seen playfully <a href="http://&#x27;I can do the army dozen&#x27;: Marcos does jumping jacks, says he is healthy">jumping jacks and jogging</a> with reporters on Monday.“We the people have a constitutional right to be informed of the state of his health (including physical and mental condition of the President) particularly when such condition may impair his ability to discharge official duties,” the petitioners said.The petitioners also asked the Supreme Court to order President Marcos to undergo a hair follicle drug test and disclose its results. Citing higher standards of accountability for the President, the petitioners said a drug test is “reasonable” as it directly relates to ensuring his fitness for office.“Such testing is scientifically reliable in detecting long-term substance use, non-invasive, the scientific community widely accepts it, and governments already require in various sectors - including government service and overseas employment,” the petitioners said. <div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Te8_8mBJYj4?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>
