Some suggest directly coordinating with oil companies instead to help lower fuel prices.</p><p>“Wag nang magbigay ng mga ayuda sa mga driver parang namamalimos lang kami eh, pipila ka ng isang ara, isang araw ang mawawala sa iyo. Ibigay ninyo sa taumbayan ang dapat naman na nasa kanila,&quot; he said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>LONG-TERM SOLUTION NEEDED FOR STRUCTURAL PROBLEM<br/></strong></div><p>Meanwhile, as fuel prices continue to decline for a second straight week amid the ongoing two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, Iran’s military command has again closed the Strait of Hormuz.</p><p>But international relations expert Renato de Castro explained that oil prices are influenced less by developments in the Strait of Hormuz and more by ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran.</p><p>“So, a more important diplomatic signal, I believe, that the global market has taken into account is the continuation of the negotiation... The global market is taking its signal from the ongoing negotiation, not from what&#x27;s happening at the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.</p><p>De Castro suggested structural reforms beyond short-term &#x27;ayuda&#x27; or aid.</p><p>“We&#x27;re doing enough, but again, there&#x27;s what we call structural issue. The most basic, of course, is the fact that we have only one refining facility. We are totally dependent on importing, you know, diesel, gasoline, instead, of course, refining crude oil,” he added.</p>
