Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA — A 50-year-old man was arrested in Mandaluyong City after allegedly tampering with a lottery ticket and falsely claiming a ₱172 million jackpot prize.According to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the suspect visited their office on April 27, asserting that he had won the April 7 lottery draw.However, upon verification, PCSO personnel discovered that the claim was fraudulent.“May process kami para malaman natin kung winning ticket siya. Kung winning ticket siya, ipo-process na namin siya for payment. Pero, doon palang sa initial, &#x27;yung pagpasok nung ticket na &#x27;yon, kasi meron siyang feature, meron siyang TSN. So, pagpasok yun hindi siya valid winning ticket,” said Laila Dalang, Department Manager of Gaming Technology in PCSO.Records showed that the legitimate winner had already claimed the prize on April 13.The incident prompted PCSO personnel to seek assistance from law enforcement authorities.During the investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted that the ticket was not originally his and claimed it had been sold to him.“Sabi niya kasi, hindi sa kanya yung ticket parang may nag benta sa kanya nung ticket, may nagpapaclaim sa kanya ng ticket dito sa PCSO,” Galang said.Records from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) further revealed that the suspect had a prior arrest.“Batay po sa initial verification natin mayroon po siyang kaso previously na acts of lasciviousness.  Ang suspek po natin ay kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya po ng Mandaluyong police station,” said Police Major Hazel Asilo, NCRPO spokesperson.The man is now facing charges, including violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code, or falsification of public documents.
