<p>MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to sustain strict enforcement of local ordinances in Metro Manila, insisting that the intensified police operations would continue as part of long-term efforts to maintain public order.</p><p>Data showed that 48,257 violators were apprehended over three days under the Safer Cities Initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).</p><p>According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), 23,376 violators were recorded from April 7 to April 8, 2026, following 24,881 violators logged from April 6 to April 7.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/6/dilg-drinking-liquor-on-streets-is-banned-1139">DILG to strictly enforce public drinking ban, minors’ curfew, other ordinances in Metro Manila</a></div><p>PNP spokesperson PBGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the numbers demonstrate the steady enforcement of rules.</p><p>“Patuloy lang ang ating pagpapaalala at pagpapatupad ng mga ordinansa. Nakikita natin na mas nagiging maayos ang paligid kapag may presensya ang pulis,” Nartatez said in a statement. </p><p>Of the total violators, 7,389 were fined, 403 were charged in court, while 15,584 were warned and released.</p><p>Tuaño clarified that violators would not be jailed for ordinance breaches alone unless other offenses occur during police intervention.</p><p>“Halimbawa, during sa pagsita, ‘pag sinabi na ito ay curfew lamang at sila ay naging unruly o kaya sila ay naging madahas sa pakikipag-usap sa ating pulis at sa ating barangay, doon papasok ‘yung pag-aresto ng PNP,” he explained.</p><p>Under the Safer Metro Manila Plan, police will increase presence in schools, transport terminals, streets, and other crowded areas, particularly during nighttime operations, to ensure stronger visibility.</p><p>The PNP called on the public to cooperate and stay mindful of community rules.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uupYFiJObXc?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
