MANILA (2nd UPDATE) — No arrests will be carried out in the Senate, the Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms said on Wednesday, following reports that Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa might be arrested soon.“No arrest can happen inside the [premises]. If there will be arrest, it will be by virtue or order of a local court,” Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca told reporters.“Based on the order and instruction of the [Senate president], we will not allow it to happen,” he added.Dela Rosa is the subject of a warrant from the International Criminal Court, <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/13/bato-dela-rosa-now-officially-included-in-icc-s-wanted-persons-list-1721">which has included the senator on its list of wanted persons.</a>During a Facebook livestream on Wednesday afternoon, Dela Rosa said he has received information that operatives will arrest him after the Senate session.&quot;Mayroon po tayong natanggap na impormasyon na pagkatapos ng aming session nitong araw na ito, mayroon na pong mga operatiba ng [National Bureau of Investigation] at ng [Criminal Investigation and Detection Group] ang pupunta dito para ako ay arestuhin,&quot; he said.The senator slammed the possible arrest and said no other Filipino should be brought to The Hague. He also asked help from supporters. Dela Rosa had <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/12/bato-to-marcos-jr-i-deserve-your-support-2107">made an emotional appeal</a> to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday not to send him to The Hague.&quot;I think I deserve some support of this government,&quot; he said.Aplasca vowed that what happened on Monday, when some NBI agents entered the Senate premises to carry out a law enforcement action, would not be repeated.“As long as I’m the sergeant-at-arms, it will not happen again,” he said.“Unless there will be an order issued by the local court,” he added.The Senate official said the NBI and the justice department have so far not reached out to them on potential coordination. Aplasca also denied the Senate is on lockdown.Early evening on Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed government officials to <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/13/sc-directs-government-to-comment-on-bato-s-plea-for-vs-icc-warrant-1824">comment on dela Rosa&#x27;s plea for a restraining order</a> on the implementation of the ICC warrant for his arrest.Government officials have 72 hours from receipt of the resolution to submit their comments. -- with a report from Victoria Tulad, ABS-CBN News<div></div>
