MANILA -- Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday night said they are &quot;allegedly under attack&quot; following a shooting incident inside the Senate building.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/13/senate-on-lockdown-osaa-says-it-will-arrest-someone-1953">READ: Shots heard as Senate on lockdown for &#x27;someone&#x27;s&#x27; arrest</a></div>In a <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=watch_permalink&amp;v=1444238830835169&amp;rdid=VxIHjKUDgVFQnT6b">video posted on Facebook</a>, Cayetano said some senators received information that something will happen and that they should leave.&quot;Four senators got tips 30 minutes ago while we were talking na umalis na dito kasi may mangyayari,&quot; he said.&quot;The emotions are high here because bakit kami paaalisin eh we&#x27;re waiting for the articles of impeachment, and we&#x27;re having a meeting, na sabi nila darating na,&quot; Cayetano added.According to Cayetano, Senators Pia Cayetano and Loren Legarda called National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag to ask about the situation in the Senate, but they were informed that there were no NBI agents in the Senate building because they were asked to leave.He also asked government agencies to do something about the situation at the Senate.&quot;So please kung sinong nanonood, sinong nakikinig, we expect yung tawagan naming will understand the emotions here and will say na we&#x27;ll do something about it,&quot; Cayetano said.&quot;The rest, &#x27;yung mga nasa Senate ano, turn off the lights, stay low. I have to protect my people. Wala pa ngang imbestigasyon may natuturo na. Ang unang tumawag sa akin si Sec.-Gen., sabi ko pare wala kami diyan, nandito lahat ng opisyal,&quot; he added.Shots were heard at the Senate on Wednesday evening as the Sergeant-at-Arms announced a lockdown.Its personnel also told media and staff to clear the second floor of the building, where reporters said at least 10 gunshots were heard.The OSAA earlier said they were going to arrest someone but did not give details.
