Chel Diokno said on Friday they are waiting “with anticipation” for the answer of Vice President Sara Duterte to the articles of impeachment against her as they will also be given five days to reply.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/21/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial-may-start-july-6-1040">&#x27;Forthwith&#x27;: Sara Duterte impeachment trial may start July 6, says Tulfo</a></div><p>The Senate impeachment court previously announced Duterte would have until June 1 to file her answer.</p><p>When asked if he expects Duterte’s answer, Diokno replied, “Nasa sa kanilang kamay ‘yan. Last year, kung maaalala natin na nag-file naman sila ng answer. Although depende rin ‘yan kung ano ang kagustuhan ng Vice President ngayon at kung ano ‘yung laman noon.&quot;</p><p>“We are waiting for that with anticipation because bibigyan naman kami ng limang araw para mag-reply,” Diokno added.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1713041556510959%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>In response to a question on the Vice President potentially choosing to question the Senate’s jurisdiction regarding the impeachment trial, the lawmaker said they hope Duterte simply chooses to respond to the charges “head-on.”</div><p>“What we hope will happen is that sasagutin niya mismo ‘yung mga charges laban sa kanya. Kasi yung prosesong ito ay dumaan na sa Committee on Justice. At nakita naman natin lahat na talagang mayroon naisalang na ebidensya sa komite.
