Sepe Jr., ABS-CBN News/File</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (UPDATED) - Vice President Sara Duterte said she does not want to overthrow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. from power, noting that she wants to public to see the president&#x27;s alleged &#x27;shamelessness&#x27; until the end.</p><p>Duterte said this when asked about unverified claims of alleged calls for her to lead a revolt. </p><p>In an ambush interview Friday, the vice president stated that it is not in her hands to perform &#x27;extra constitutional means to overthrow the current administration&#x27; as she swore to ‘preserve and defend’ the Constitution.</p><p>“Ako, I am the constitutional successor, I am the next in line ayon sa ating Constitution. At meron akong sinumpaan noong ako ay nag-assume ng office of the Vice President at nakalagay doon that I will preserve and defend the Constitution,” Duterte said in an ambush interview after leading the 128th Independence Day commemoration rites in Davao City Friday, June 12.</p><p>“So, wala sa aking mga kamay ang pagsasagawa ng extra constitutional means to overthrow the current administration. At hindi ko din gusto ‘yun. Hindi ko gusto agawin ‘yung posisyon ni Bongbong Marcos. Hindi siya sa pagsakop lamang ng mga foreign invaders. Nawawala din siya kapag ‘yung mga matataas na opisyal ng ating pamahalaan. Kasama na ang Pangulo ay mala sindikato sa pagnanakaw ng pera ng bayan,” she claimed.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/9/no-threats-from-within-afp-amid-alleged-june-12-destabilization-plot-brawner-1706">No threats from within AFP amid alleged June 12 destabilization plot — Brawner </a></div><p>Malacañang refuted Duterte’s assertions, noting that there have been several occasions when the Vice President gave public statements on wanting to remove Marcos from power.</p><p>“Noon pa niya nais patalsikin ang Pangulo sa pwesto at sinabi niya ito sa isang speech niya sa Nertherlands noong July 19, 2025 na, ‘Tayong lahat gusto natin mapalayas si BBM sa pwesto.’ Hindi niya makakaila nang sabihin niya ito,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters in a statement.</p><p>“Huwag magpakaplastik at magbait-baitan. Huwag na siyang magkunwari dahil ang mga kaalyado niya ang nagpupursige sa isang destabilization,” she said.</p><p>“Kung ayaw niya talaga [na alisin sa puwesto si Marcos], siya ang pipigil sa mga kaalyado niya sa paghahasik ng lagim.”</p><p>The Palace also scorned Duterte for calling the President shameless.</p><p>“Ang Bise Presidente kapag walang script na binabasa, walang modo. Anthony Aberin said around 1,000 police officers were deployed around the Senate alone, after reports of possible security threats circulated on social media.</p><p>“Tuloy-tuloy po yung monitoring natin sa mga sinasabing security threat, of course marami kaming nababasa sa social media about sa nagsi-circulate nga po na report about it and because of that we have enhanced our security po sa labas ng Senado,” Aberin said.</p><p>The NCRPO chief said officers were instructed to exercise maximum tolerance while respecting the rights of demonstrators.</p><p>“Sa mga tauhan natin, of course alam naman natin sa mga panahon na ito nakafull alert tayo, just the same yung palagi kong guidance let’s observe maximum tolerance and respect ng human rights ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/patdgIEYl1g?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>Police were also directed to immediately approach protesters whose faces are fully covered during demonstrations.</p><p>“Na-advise na rin po natin ang atin kapulisan na sitashin na kaagad mga gantong nagra-rally na naka-full cover po ang kanilang mukha nang sa ganung makaiwas tayo sa posibleng puwedeng gawin ng mga nagko-cover ng mukha,” Aberin said.</p><p>Several rallies were held in Metro Manila on Independence Day, but Aberin said organizers did not secure rally permits.
