<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/178159137508720171004-ombudsman-conchita-morales--5-JC.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Office of the Ombudsman. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday showcased its ongoing flood control probe at the Southeast Asian Ombudsman Forum (SEAOF), which discussed strategies to combat corruption through cross-country cooperation.</p><p>In a video message, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said that in 2025, 124 complaints underwent fact-finding investigation, while 36 advanced to preliminary investigation or administrative adjudication.</p><p>In the same year, graft and malversation cases were filed against former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and several Department of Public Works and Highways–Mimaropa officials over an alleged anomalous flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/15/ombudsman-probes-alleged-villar-interference-in-lrt-1-cavite-extension-1311">Ombudsman probes alleged Villar interference in LRT-1 Cavite extension</a></div><p>Remulla said that for 2026, around 209 complaints are currently undergoing fact-finding investigation and four cases have been filed before courts.</p><p>The include cases filed against contractors <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/8/curlee-discaya-arrested-0748">Curlee and Sarah Discaya</a>, former Sen. <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/16/bong-revilla-back-at-sandiganbayan-for-malversation-case-arraignment-0806">Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr</a>., and <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/13/house-prosecution-team-raises-objections-to-jinggoy-estrada-s-participation-in-impeachment-trial-1436">Sen. Jinggoy Estrada</a> over the flood control mess.</p><p>“But beyond these numbers is a deeper responsibility—to strengthen public trust and demonstrate that accountability institutions can respond with independence, fairness, professionalism, and resolve.
