Del Pilar Street remains closed to traffic early Monday morning following an incident where three electrical posts toppled during a heavy downpour Sunday night, June 21, cutting off power and obstructing major lanes in Barangay Maysilo.The incident occurred past 7:00 p.m. at the corner of M.H. Del Pilar and Yanga Streets.According to some residents, the collapse was triggered by sudden strong winds and heavy rain, which also caused gutter-deep flooding along the road.One of the falling posts directly struck a tricycle owned by 56-year-old Reuel Santos, who was celebrating his birthday the same day.“Habang nagpapahinga na ako umulan tapos biglang humangin nang malakas kitang kita ko kung paano bumagsak yung poste sa motor ko mismo… buti na lang po siguro kaarawan ko ngayon siguro talagang mahal ako ng Diyos,” Santos said, expressing relief over his narrow escape but worrying about his livelihood. “Sa pang-araw-araw po dyan po ako kumukuha ng ikabubuhay… sana po mapalitan ng Meralco yung motor ko.”Aside from the primary post, a smaller electrical post fell onto the roof of a nearby rental house, while a third post was left hanging by its wires.The damage prompted an immediate power outage across the affected area, leaving residents in the dark through the night.Ali Sevilla, a resident, described the sudden blackout.“Bago po kami mag-dinner ang lakas na po ng ulan tapos habang nagdi-dinner kami bigla na lang nagshutdown yung supply ng kuryente… tagal na po tapos kawawa pa po yung pamangkin ko, may mga pasok pa, hindi makatulog nang maayos,” Sevilla said.The fallen electrical posts initially reduced the roadway to a single passable lane, causing significant delays for motorists navigating the route.Motorcycle taxi rider Jonathan Cansino, who was transporting a passenger from Manila to Malabon, noted the inconvenience caused by the incident.“Malaking perwisyo po talaga kasi malayo iniikot kasi isang diretso lang po dapat ito,” Cansino stated.Past 2:00 a.m. on Monday, authorities implemented a total road closure on M.H. Del Pilar Street to give way to clearing and repair operations.The Malabon Local Government Unit (LGU) has officially advised all motorists to completely avoid the area and use alternative routes until the clearing operations are complete.As of 4:00 a.m., M.H. Del Pilar Street remains closed to all vehicles.In a statement, Meralco said around 500 of its customers have no power supply due to the incident. The company asks for understanding as the clearing operations continue.&quot;Nasa 500 customer ang pansamantalang nawalan ng serbisyo ng kuryente na inaayos ng aming mga crew para agad na maibalik sa normal...
