<p>MANILA — The Philippine Army said Tuesday it was investigating allegations that several trainees of the National Guard were physically assaulted by an instructor inside Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal, days before their scheduled graduation.</p><p>“We are currently investigating the situation, the reported incident at a division training school,” Army Second Infantry Division spokesperson Colonel Michael Aquino said.</p><p>“The Philippine Army will not tolerate any breach of discipline within its ranks. Once proven guilty—if a breach has been conducted—of course, they will be made answerable,” he told reporters in a phone interview.</p><p>A graduating trainee of the Army National Guard claimed that an instructor physically assaulted several recruits during a fellowship activity at the camp on Monday night.</p><p>In an interview with DZRH News, the trainee said the instructor, who is a staff sergeant, was allegedly angered after trainees failed to immediately complete a formation. The instructor was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.</p><p>The trainee claimed that the instructor kicked and hit at least 10  trainees, some of whom were allegedly injured on their ribs and sides.</p><p>Aquino said the Second Infantry Division was working to establish what really transpired during the incident.</p><p>“Information gathered is that they had a sanctioned activity.
