<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1780881529166viber_image_2026-06-08_09-12-46.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The Senate on Monday, June 8, 2026, turns over government contractor Curlee Discaya to police authorities implementing an arrest order against him.<em> Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau via RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MALOLOS, Bulacan<strong> (UPDATED) </strong>— Government contractor Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya was arrested Monday following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Regional Trial Court of Malolos City over a non-bailable malversation of public funds case.</p><p>Discaya, who had been detained at the Senate since last year, was turned over to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).</p><p>The booking procedure, which included a health checkup, fingerprinting, and the taking of mugshots, was conducted at the Senate.</p><p>Clad in an orange detainee uniform, the 51-year-old was seen wearing an arm support due to an injury, and was not handcuffed.</p><p>“Nagka-injury ‘yong kamay niya eh. Hindi kakasya ‘yong posas sa kamay niya because of the injury. So, binantayan naman natin. No special treatment sa kanya,” said CIDG-National Capital Region chief Col. They will be detained at the provincial jail.</p><p>Their detention brings to nine the number of the 11 individuals charged in the malversation case who are already in custody, including Mr. Discaya’s wife, Sarah, who was earlier jailed in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.</p><p>“Itong flood control cases ay moving forward, nakikita niyo. At sa mga susunod na mga darating na panahon ay mas marami pa kaming mahuhuli,” said Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, who personally oversaw Discaya’s transfer to the court.</p><p>Asked about the purpose of his presence, Remulla said, “This is to personally dispel any doubts na may special treatment sa mga Discaya. Meron kasing mga reports na dahil meron silang mga ka-deal na big time congressman at senator, napo-protektahan sila.
