<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784024310257pangilinan.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Pangilinan brings up Duterte-era inciting to sedition cases at Senate trial. <em>Screenshot from Senate livestream</em></span></span></span>MANILA — Senator-judge Francis Pangilinan brought up inciting to sedition cases under the previous administration during the resumption of the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday.</div><p>Pangilinan raised the sedition cases during his questioning of National Bureau of Investigation executive Jeremy Lotoc, who led the investigation into Duterte&#x27;s alleged grave threats and seditious comments.</p><p>Pangilinan pointed out that under the government of the vice president&#x27;s father, then President Rodrigo Duterte, the NBI, in 2020, arrested teacher Ronnel Mas for allegedly offering P50 million to anyone who could kill the Duterte patriarch.</p><p>Mas was charged with inciting to sedition for his alleged social media post, but an Olongapo City court <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/06/25/20/ronnel-mas-sedition-charge-dropped-duterte-threat">dismissed</a> the case.</p><p>Another person was charged with inciting sedition during the same year for allegedly posting on social media that he would offer anyone with P150 million who would kill the elder Duterte, the senator-judge also said.</p><p>&quot;To explain inciting to sedition, ang ganitong mga remarks have the tendency precisely to, if not, attack the government, put it in a — mobilize individuals or people to go against government.
