MANILA — Incoming freshmen hoping to get a chance to study at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) camped out in the street to secure slots under the university&#x27;s first-come, first-served enrollment system on Tuesday, July 14.Incoming freshman Glyrene Monares from Cavite aims to secure a slot in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program. Despite waiting in line for nearly an entire day, she said the exhaustion was worth the opportunity to enroll.“Yung oras po ng pagdating namin dito kahapon pa po, around 10am. Pakay po namin enrollment po. Alam ko rin po na mataas ang employment rate sa PUP. Pumila po ako rito mga 8 pm so kagabi pa po. Medyo pagod pero kakayanin ko po kasi determinado ako na makakuha ng slot,” Garcia said.Some aspiring students were accompanied by their parents, who showed unwavering support for their children&#x27;s dream of becoming an Iskolar ng Bayan.Among them was Renato Bueno from Imus, Cavite, who accompanied his daughter to PUP. His daughter hopes to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.“Dumating kami mga alas-2 ng hapon dito and then sa sobrang dami ng tao talagang nag-aaway na halos yung iba. Sa awa ng Diyos nakapasok mag-a-ala-5 ng umaga yung anak ko. Napakahalaga po sa amin dahil unang-una sa tuition fee, sa school na ito libre tayo.
