Ronaldo Padua, Vice President and Head of Water Operations, acknowledged public concern over the dam’s declining water level. “Yes, it has been going down. It’s still at a critical level right now. Working with them allows us to properly manage the withdrawal of water from the Angat Reservoir,” he added.Maynilad spokesperson Jen Rufo emphasized that the company is in a stronger position compared to past El Niño events. “We can confidently say that we are in a better position now versus noong 2019 po na El Niño… We now have more augmentation sources. We have less water losses in the network dahil patuloy po ang ating pagpapalit ng mga lumang linya ng tubig, pagkukumpuni ng mga sira sa pipelines. Meron na tayong mga alternate sources, Laguna Lake, potable reused water, and modular treatment plants drawing raw water from rivers in Cavite,” Rufo said.Rufo added that these preparations allow Maynilad to better handle any supply crunch that may result from the expected dry spell.
