MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has suspended the participation of Gabriel Go, head of its Special Operations Group–Strike Force, in clearing operations while an investigation is ongoing.The agency confirmed on Wednesday that Go has been issued a show cause order requiring him to explain his side after a viral video showed him apprehending a teacher for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. The incident drew concern after the teacher reportedly asked not to be recorded, but the footage was later uploaded to Go’s social media account.“Rest assured that we are conducting an investigation as to Mr. Go’s liability,” the MMDA said, adding that his role in clearing operations has been placed in abeyance pending the result of the probe.The suspension coincided with a reminder from the National Privacy Commission (NPC) that taking and uploading content without consent may violate privacy laws, underscoring the broader accountability issues raised by the incident.Belarmino added that if the subject of the video had objected to it being uploaded, that may be a privacy violation even if the face had been blurred.The NPC said unauthorized processing of personal data may carry penalties of one to six years&#x27; imprisonment and fines ranging from P500,000 to P4 million under the Data Privacy Act.<div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/15/npc-reminder-taking-uploading-content-without-consent-may-violate-privacy-1805">NPC reminder: Taking, uploading content without consent may violate privacy</a></div>
