Wala pa pong naibibigay sa atin na impormasyon tungkol doon,&quot; Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told reporters.</p><p>&quot;Ang magic word ay truth, katotohanan. Yan ang dapat mapanatili sa pag-iimbestiga,&quot; she said, noting that Duterte &quot;is not above the law.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/16/bir-needs-marcos-approval-before-release-of-duterte-s-records-ex-tax-chief-1457">BIR needs Marcos approval before release of Duterte&#x27;s records — ex-tax chief</a></div><p>Section 71 of the National Internal Revenue Code requires the approval of the president before any tax documents can be examined, said lawyer Kim Henares, who was BIR commissioner during the impeachment trial of the late chief justice Renato Corona.</p><p>The tax code says the commissioner of the internal revenue has the authority to make such a request, she noted.</p><p>House prosecutors in the Senate trial are seeking subpoenas to produce the bank and tax records, as well as Anti–Money Laundering Council documents tied to the couple, to support their accusations in the articles of impeachment.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;OBLIGASYON NIYA NA IPAKITA ANG KATOTOHANAN&#x27;</strong></div><p>&quot;Kung walang kinakatakutan, obligasyon naman niya na ipakita ang katotohanan. I don&#x27;t think so, hindi niya gagawin yun,&quot; Castro said of the vice president.</p><p>Marcos&#x27; willingness to reconcile with the Duterte family does not erase the fact that the vice president had threatened to have the chief executive killed if she were murdered, Castro also said.</p><p>&quot;Tungkol ito sa kapasidad ng isang tao kung kaya mo bang mamuno gamit ang utak mo, ang puso mo. Hindi lang ito maliit na bagay, maliit na kaso.
