Officers conducting an intelligence-driven operation nearby heard the victim’s cries for help and immediately responded.</p><p>The responding officers chased the fleeing suspects until they reached Dallas Street, where the gunmen allegedly opened fire at the police.</p><p>The officers returned fire, hitting the motorcycle rider in the back and the back rider on his side. The suspects’ motorcycle eventually crashed, preventing them from escaping.</p><p>Both men were taken to the hospital where the rider was declared dead-on-arrival while the other suspect survived and is undergoing treatment.</p><p>Recovered from the crime scene were spent shell casings, the female victim’s jewelry and cash, two firearms, and a live fragmentation grenade.</p><p>Police said their investigation linked the two suspects to several robbery incidents captured on CCTV.</p><p>On June 4, the tandem allegedly robbed a man in Barangay Pamplona, Las Piñas, at gunpoint and took his bag after the victim tried to resist.</p><p>Four days later, on June 8, the suspects allegedly targeted a motorcycle rider along Valderama corner Binay Street in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati. Investigators said the victim attempted to flee but was allegedly shot before the suspects took his bag and other belongings.</p><p>On July 10, authorities said the same suspects snatched the necklace of a man walking home in Barangay Olympia before fleeing. Later that day, they allegedly robbed customers inside a restaurant in Barangay San Antonio, taking mobile phones and other valuables.</p><p>Police said the suspects appeared to choose their victims at random, usually targeting individuals who were alone.</p><p>The surviving suspect is expected to face charges of robbery and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.</p><p>Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether the two suspects were members of a larger criminal group.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gBtlr0qD1Ec?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
