Nagdi-discuss tayo ng statistics and statistics will bear it out na mas ligtas ang Pilipinas ngayon as compared to the previous periods,” PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Allen Rae Co said.</p><p>According to the PNP, the country&#x27;s eight focus crimes dropped by 20.6 percent more than three months after the nationwide implementation of the Safer Cities Initiative.</p><p>PNP data showed that from April 6 to July 4, 2026, focus crime incidents fell to 7,883 from 9,506 cases recorded during the previous three-month period.</p><p>The police said significant decreases were recorded in cases of rape, carnapping, physical injury, robbery, theft, homicide, and murder.</p><p>The PNP also reported a 21.74 percent increase in the enforcement of local ordinances during the same period.</p><p>Police apprehended more than 2.82 million individuals for various ordinance violations, an increase of more than 505,000 compared to the preceding three months.</p><p>In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the figures indicate progress but stressed that public safety remains the organization&#x27;s primary measure of success.</p><p>&quot;Ang tunay na sukatan ng tagumpay ay kung mas ligtas at mas kampante ang ating mga kababayan sa kanilang mga komunidad. Patuloy nating palalakasin ang police visibility at pakikipagtulungan sa mga lokal na pamahalaan upang mapanatili ang kaayusan,” Nartatez said.</p><p>The PNP chief also stressed the importance of crime prevention alongside law enforcement.</p><p>“Kapag may disiplina, may presensya ng pulis, at may aktibong komunidad, mas maliit ang pagkakataon para makagawa ng krimen,” he added.</p><p>Meanwhile, Co acknowledged that recent violent crimes may have affected public perception but said the overall trend continues to show a decline in crime.</p><p>&quot;Naiintindihan po natin na this is small consolation kung hindi po ito ang ating nararamdaman.
