Robin Padilla’s counter-affidavit on the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/25/cayetano-padilla-aplasca-asked-to-counter-obstruction-of-justice-complaint-over-dela-rosa-escape-1808">obstruction of justice complaint </a>against him does not reflect in the Ombudsman’s system yet on Monday, the anti-graft body said. </p><p>The complaint was filed by Tindig Pilipinas against Padilla, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, and suspended Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca following the “escape” of Sen. Ronald dela Rosa from the chamber’s premises after a shooting incident on May 13. Dela Rosa is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court due to the bloody drug war.</p><p>Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla previously <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/17/ombudsman-padilla-snubs-order-for-counter-affidavit-on-dela-rosa-escape-1411">said Padilla “ignored” the anti-graft body’s order</a>. But during Monday’s impeachment trial, Padilla showed his counter-affidavit to debunk Remulla’s statement.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/20/padilla-ombudsman-dela-rosa-escape-tulfo-1419">Tulfo says impeachment court &#x27;not proper forum&#x27; to &#x27;defend&#x27; senators after Padilla&#x27;s Ombudsman remarks </a></div><p>Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said they were just relying on their system. So far, only Cayetano’s counter-affidavit appears in it.</p><p>“Buti naman po at meron siyang [Padilla] pinakita na isang counter-affidavit, original pa po raw ang pinakita niya. Bagamat hindi ho siya nagre-reflect sa aming sistema and the time to file a counter-affidavit had already lapsed,” Clavano told reporters in a briefing.</p><p>“We will rely on what our system says and we will take it from there,” he added.</p><p>Padilla said he was saddened hearing that he did not obey the order as it was not true.</p><p>“Dahil ginagalang ko po ang Ombudsman dahil siya po ay aking kaibigan na itinuturing — dahil nagkaroon na po kami ng napakahabang kwentuhan sa aking opisina nung siya po ay kalihim ng hustisya — nag-file po kami,” he said, subsequently showing the original copy.</p><p>Remulla earlier said that he gave Aplasca until July 23 to file after he asked for an extension.
