MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard has successfully conducted medical evacuation of the two injured Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel injured in the incident in Ayungin Shoal.In a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/61555492020462/posts/122276070062183067/?rdid=KUMMbtu7T2O42l1O#">statement</a>, the PCG said it immediately deployed BRP Melchora Aquino and BRP Malapascua to conduct a humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) mission focused on the medical evacuation of the two personnel. They were successfully transferred to BRP Melchora Aquino in the afternoon of the same day, where they are now receiving care from a PCG medical officer.The PCG noted that China Coast Guard vessels were present in the area during the operation.  CCG rigid-hull inflatable boats were deployed and tried to block the PCG vessels.One of the injured personnel sustained a wound on the head due to blunt trauma, along with a contusion hematoma on the arm. The second injured personnel sustained a lacerated wound on the index finger, also due to blunt trauma.Both individuals are in stable condition aboard the MV Melchora Aquino, PCG added.The two personnel sustained injuries following an encounter with CCG personnel Monday.<div><a class="fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/20/ph-navy-officer-sustains-head-injury-after-confrontation-with-china-coast-guard-1605">PH Navy personnel injured after China Coast Guard baton attack at Ayungin Shoal</a></div>
