Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>Vice President Sara Duterte, who is facing an impeachment trial, is the preferred presidential candidate for the May 2028 elections, based on the results of a Pulse Asia survey released Wednesday.</p><p>In the survey conducted from June 28 to July 3 and 6, respondents were asked who they would vote for president if the 2028 elections were held during the survey period. They were presented with a list of six possible candidates.</p><p>Duterte emerged as the top choice, with 49 percent of respondents saying they would vote for her. Support for the Vice President was highest in the Visayas (53 percent) and Mindanao (87 percent), and Class E (59 percent). </p><p>Duterte was followed by Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo with 26 percent, according to the survey results.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784707507273PRESIDENT PA.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><p>Sen. Raffy Tulfo garnered 14 percent, followed by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who each received 1 percent. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Nicolas D. Torre III received 0.1 percent.</p><p>Four percent of respondents were undecided, while four percent said they were not inclined to support any of the possible candidates. One percent declined to state a preference.</p><p>Duterte was also the preferred presidential candidate in five alternative three-way presidential election scenarios, based on the survey.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784707523654ALTERNATIVE.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><br/></div><p>The Pulse Asia survey was held before the July 6 start of Duterte&#x27;s impeachment trial, a critical juncture that could determine her political future, as a conviction could bar her from holding public office.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial">Impeachment Trial of Sara Duterte </a></div><p>Meanwhile, in the vice presidential race, Sen. Robin Padilla, who received 21 percent; Sen. Bam Aquino and former Sen. Grace Poe, who each garnered 14 percent; Sen. Erwin Tulfo, with 9 percent; Sen. Francis Pangilinan, with 4 percent; and MMDA&#x27;s Torre, with 0.5 percent.</p><p>Five percent of respondents expressed &quot;disinclination&quot; to vote for any vice presidential candidate, while three percent were undecided and one percent declined to identify their preferred candidate, Pulse Asia said.</p><p>The nationwide survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with a representative sample of 2,400 adults aged 18 and above.
