MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development said Thursday that all 3.5 million beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the Food Stamp program will receive their one-time P2,000 cash assistance by Friday, July 24.The cash aid is part of the Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food and Transport (UPLIFT) program to 7.5 million poor and low-income Filipinos to cushion the impact of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran.“’Yung mga 4Ps beneficiaries natin at ‘yung mga Walang Gutom: Food Stamps beneficiaries sila ‘yung pinakamahirap sa ating lipunan, makakatanggap ng karagdagang 2,000 pesos -- one time -- for the next six months. Isang beses lang. In fact, kaka-credit lang and by tomorrow, tapos na ‘yung 3.5 million na benepisyaryo matatanggap na nila kasi through their Landbank accounts ‘yan,” DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said in an interview with state-run media PTV Thursday, July 23.Meanwhile, the distribution of P2,000 per month beginning this July to December to 2.5 million individuals who are non-4Ps members but considered poor and those who are ‘near-poor’ is also underway.“’Yung unang bigay is manual nating ginagawa but the succeeding ones magiging digital na kasi ine-enroll na natin ang kanilang e-wallet sa ating sistema,” Gatchalian noted.The 1.5 million individuals who belong in the third group, the low-wage earners in the database of the Social Security System or those who earn P20,000 and below, will receive the P2,000 monthly cash aid beginning this July to December through their ATM accounts.“Hindi naman natin ginusto pero wala tayong choice kasi hindi natin kontrolado. Pero ang kontrolado natin maportektahan ang ating mga kababayan, ang mga vulnerable, ang mga near-poor, low-wage earners natin,” the DSWD chief stated.
