Allen Rae Co said that preparations are now in the final phase, with only minor adjustments to be made should new developments arise.</p><p>“We will be doing some adjustments depending on kung meron bagong sitwasyon but nasa final phases na tayo and nakalatag na ang ating buong security plan,” Co said.</p><p>While no credible threats have been monitored, Co said the police remain on alert and will act on any intelligence information that may be received before or during the event.</p><p>&quot;Wala pong threat but, of course, lahat po ng impormasyon kung meron tayong ma-receive ay titingnan po natin at kung kinakailangan ay we will take the necessary action,&quot; he said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/24/sona-2026-corruption-leads-issues-filipinos-want-to-hear-pulse-asia-0847">SONA 2026: Corruption leads issues Filipinos want to hear — Pulse Asia</a></div><p>The PNP said all major preparations, including inspections, inter-agency coordination meetings, walkthroughs, and rehearsals have already been completed.</p><p>A PNP command center will be established near the Batasang Pambansa Complex, while another monitoring center will operate from the police’s headquarters in Camp Crame.</p><p>Three groups have been granted permits to hold protest rallies along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, although police said more applications are still being processed.</p><p>Despite the expected demonstrations, Co reiterated that the PNP will uphold the public&#x27;s constitutional right to peaceful assembly.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/24/marcos-on-corruption-in-sona-abangan-ang-susunod-na-kabanata-1317">Marcos on corruption in SONA: ‘Abangan ang susunod na kabanata’</a></div><p>He, however, warned that authorities will intervene if protests turn violent or threaten public safety.</p><p>“As long as you maintain ‘yung mapayapa na pag-iipon, stay within the area na binigyan tayo ng permit, ay wala tayong nakikitang magiging problema. ‘Yun nga lang siyempre pagka-meron nagkagulo at na-endanger na ‘yung safety, especially of the general public, ay kailangan na natin gumawa ng aksyon,” Co explained.</p><p>“We will exercise what is just, what is fair, in a lawful manner na mapigilian ang kanilang binabalak,” he added, referring to possible provocateurs.</p><p>Co likewise reminded protesters that burning effigies or any other objects will not be allowed during the demonstrations.</p><p>He said police will first exhaust peaceful means to stop prohibited acts but will take firmer action if necessary.</p><div> </div><div><strong>INC GATHERING</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The PNP also said it is prepared to deploy additional personnel if the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) proceeds with its planned gathering on the same day as the SONA.</p><p>Co said police have yet to receive confirmation from church leaders regarding the venue or whether the gathering will push through on July 27.</p><p>“Mas malamang magdadagdag tayo to ensure ‘yung safety ng lahat ng participants, especially if we expect thousands na madadagdag na makikiisa sa atin pong INC, ay kailangan natin ng additional forces para sa pagme-maintain ng peace as well as traffic management na generally ‘yung safety ng ating community,” he said.</p><p>He added local police units remain in coordination with INC officials and that the PNP will provide updates once discussions are finalized.</p><p>The PNP also advised motorists to expect heavy traffic in areas surrounding the SONA venue and urged those with no business in the area to take alternate routes following advisories issued by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEOS</strong><strong></strong><br/></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rKAUbsNp9o0?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/r_ngINR04Fs?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
