CA Sitson, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The westbound and eastbound lanes of Culiat Bridge II along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City were reopened to light vehicles on July 27, following more than two weeks of rehabilitation.</p><p>The bridge underwent repairs after a fire broke out beneath the structure on July 11.</p><p>Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte conducted an inspection during the reopening of both lanes.</p><p>Assessment and evaluation for the bridge’s retrofitting remain ongoing before it can be fully reopened to all types of vehicles.</p><p>“Detour muna &#x27;yung mga bus natin at ibang malalaking sasakyan, pero hopefully in the next few weeks maaayos na rin natin, maibabalik natin sa normal,” said Dizon.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/13/part-of-congressional-ave-remains-closed-following-culiat-bridge-ii-fire-1723">Part of Congressional Ave. remains closed following Culiat Bridge II fire</a></div><p>“We are looking forward to the comprehensive assessment, and sana kaunting retrofitting lang and pwede nang maging normal ang pagdaloy ng traffic,” Mayor Belmonte mentioned.</p><p>A total of 38 families were evacuated from the area following the fire and have since been transferred to &quot;transition housing.&quot;</p><p>“Nilipat po namin sa transition housing ng Lungsod Quezon sa Bgy. Payatas. ‘Yan po ay mga modular units na ang purpose niyan ay pansamantalang lilipatan habang hinahanda ang kanilang permanent na lilipatan,” Belmonte explained.</p><p>The families will soon be relocated to permanent housing designated for residents displaced from danger zones.</p><p>“Ayaw na po talaga natin ng off-city relocation dahil bumabalik ang mga tao, in-city po ang relocation nila. Ito pong na-identify natin ay isang relocation site ng National Housing Authority sa may Bgy.
