Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police personnel have been ordered to closely monitor suspicious individuals and activities that could disrupt the President&#x27;s annual address, with intelligence operations heightened in areas considered critical to public safety.</p><p>Despite the absence of monitored threats, Nartatez said the PNP is maintaining a heightened security posture as part of its comprehensive security plan for the annual event.</p><p>More than 20,000 police officers have been deployed across Metro Manila to secure key government installations, major thoroughfares, and venues where SONA-related activities, including protest actions, are expected to take place.</p><p>“A sufficient number of our personnel and resources are already on the ground along with our partners from other government agencies. We all have the same goal of ensuring a peaceful and orderly SONA, and we all have the same commitment to deliver,” Nartatez said in a statement.</p><p>Police commanders have also been instructed to make real-time adjustments to security measures depending on developments on the ground.</p><p>The PNP is also preparing for rallies that traditionally coincide with the President&#x27;s address. </p><p>Three groups were initially granted permits to hold rallies along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.</p><p>Nartatez said officers deployed to demonstration areas have been directed to exercise maximum tolerance and strictly observe operational procedures while ensuring peaceful and orderly assemblies.</p><p>Traffic management operations will also be implemented to minimize disruption to motorists and commuters.</p><p>The PNP urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious persons or activities as authorities continue to monitor the security situation throughout the SONA.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6_EJi-WbRJw?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
