Robin Padilla in Pulse Asia’s senatorial preference survey conducted from June 28 to July 6, 2026, after the lawmaker got 48.4 percent, while the mayor garnered 47.9 percent.</p><p>“Wala naman,” Sotto told ABS-CBN News when asked how he feels about topping the recent survey.</p><p>When asked if the poll did not change his political plans, the mayor said: “Opo, paulit-ulit ko na namang nasagot ‘yan.”</p><p>Sotto — who ran with an anti-corruption and good governance platform — rose to power in 2019 after toppling the Eusebio dynasty that ruled over Metro Manila’s 4th richest city for nearly 3 decades.</p><p>Months before the 2025 midterm elections, several camps have already sent “feelers” for Sotto to join their senatorial slate.</p><p>“‘Yung iba feelers lang. Wala naman talagang nag-offer pero siguro feelers lang yun iba,” Sotto told ABS-CBN News in an interview in August 2024.</p><p>“Wag na natin pag-usapan yung mga ganiyan. Basta I’m not interested… I have zero interest to run for higher office,” he said.</p><p>In 2025, after winning his 3rd consecutive term in office, Sotto announced that he would<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/8/28/will-vico-sotto-run-for-senator-in-2025-1026"> not seek an elected post in 2028.</a></p><p>“[Sa] 2028, hindi ako tatakbo. Ngayon pa lang sinasabi ko na sa inyo. Kaya malaya ako gawin kung anong tingin ko ang tama,&quot; he said at the turnover ceremony of incoming local officials.</p><p>When prodded for a reason on why he is not eyeing a national post, the mayor said: “Anong gagawin ko doon?
