MANILA — The House of Representatives adopted on Wednesday a resolution commemorating the 10th anniversary of the July 12, 2016 arbitral award that invalidated China&#x27;s nine-dash line claim over a large part of the South China Sea — including the West Philippine Sea.During plenary session on Wednesday, the lower chamber voted by acclamation to adopt House Resolution 1013, which also reaffirms the country’s commitment to the rule of law, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.Malabon City Rep. Antolin Oreta III, chair of the House Special Committee on the West Philippine Sea and who introduced and sponsored the resolution, said the arbitral award “demonstrated that disputes between nations can be resolved through the rule of law, peaceful diplomacy, and the institutions of the international community”.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/23/palace-marcos-wants-reset-in-ph-china-relations-after-ayungin-incident-1414">Palace: Marcos wants ‘reset’ in PH-China relations after Ayungin incident </a></div>He said &quot;recent developments&quot; in the West Philippines Sea are reminder that implementing international law and managing maritime differences peacefully are still a challenge.“At a time when our sailors face increasing risks.
