Duterte outlines her priorities, including governance reforms, public service continuity, and national development. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</em><br/></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Senate impeachment court has directed Vice President Sara Duterte to appear at her <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial">July 6 impeachment trial</a> “in person or through counsel”.</p><p>“You are hereby notified that trial will commence on the 6th of July at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, and are further directed to appear on said date, in person or through counsel, before the Impeachment Court at the Session Hall of the Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City,” the July 2, 2026 notice signed by Senate President and <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/3/gatchalian-says-to-preside-over-sara-duterte-trial-1115">impeachment court presiding officer</a> Sherwin Gatchalian said.</p><p>The notice said it is “pursuant to Rule VII of the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials and in accordance with the Writ of Summons issued on 19 May 2026”, which directs Duterte to “appear before the Senate of the Philippines upon notice, and to abide by, obey and perform such orders, directions and judgments as the Senate of the Philippines shall make in the premises according to the Constitution and laws of the Philippines.”</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial">Impeachment Trial of Sara Duterte </a></div><p>A copy of the document uploaded on the Senate website shows the notice was received by the law firm Fortun, Narvasa &amp; Salazar.</p><p>The Senate impeachment court also issued a notice on Thursday to the House of Representatives that “the Senate is ready to proceed upon the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte at the Session Hall of the Senate of the Philippines,” on July 6, at 2 p.m. </p><p>The notice was signed by Senate Secretary and impeachment clerk of court Atty. Renato Bantug Jr., and received by the House of Representatives Impeachment Secretariat.</p><p>The articles of impeachment against Duterte accuse her of alleged confidential fund misuse, unexplained wealth, bribery, and grave threats.
