Contributed </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte’s tirades against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the International Criminal Court (ICC) are “baseless, senseless, useless, and nonsense,” the Malacañang said on Thursday.</p><p>This, after Duterte accused the international tribunal of being a lackey of Marcos.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/30/sara-duterte-calls-icc-a-puppet-of-marcos-jr-trillanes-1538">Sara Duterte calls ICC a &#x27;puppet&#x27; of Marcos Jr., Trillanes</a></div><p>In a gathering of supporters in The Hague, Duterte also attributed the gun violence in the Philippines to Marcos&#x27; failure to curb the issue.</p><p>“Ang lahat halos ng sinasabi ng bise ngayon ay walang basehan, walang saysay, useless at nonsense,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters.</p><p>“Maaaring nasasabi niya ito out of frustration,” Castro said, noting that Duterte’s father — former President Rodrigo Duterte — has been detained in The Hague for over a year.</p><p>The Duterte patriarch was whisked off to the ICC’s detention facility in early 2025 after the Philippines — under Marcos — agreed to implement an arrest warrant coursed through the Interpol.</p><p>“Ang kaso na naisampa ay noon pang 2017 habang ang pangulo noon ay isang ordinaryo at pribadong mamamayan lang. Hindi ito kasalanan ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., tumutupad lang ang Pangulo sa batas,” the Palace official said.</p><p>“Kung may dapat sisihin, yan mismo ang kaniyang ama dahil sa kaniyang pag-amin na siya mismo ay pumatay at nagpapatay,” she said.</p><p>The Vice President’s frustration against the ICC may also be due to the international tribunal’s impartiality on the case of the former President’s drug war, Castro said.</p><p>Meantime, Castro also slammed Duterte for claiming that the administration was not doing enough to curb gun violence in the Philippines, especially after the Vice President claimed that one can hire a gunman for only P5,000.</p><p>“Kung siya naman po pala ay mayroon nang kinalaman tungkol dito, hindi ba dapat siya ay tumulong para ito ay mabawasan or at least mabigay niya ang datos tungkol dito?” Castro said.</p><p>Duterte is expected to return to the Philippines over the weekend as her travel authority is only valid under July 31.</p><p>Duterte severed ties with the Marcos administration and bolted from the President’s Cabinet in mid-2024 after several misgivings.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEOS</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/R-b8tWHf08M?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Fc7QbEAH_1Y?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
