<p>MANILA — Several health workers on Friday called out the government for allowing the suspension of a wage hike for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila, saying that the move was an insult to the low-earning individuals in the health sector.</p><p>The noontime protest outside the University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila was mounted a day after the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 152 released a temporary restraining order on the P60 wage hike in Metro Manila .</p><p>“Ang saklap ng nangyari sa amin. Kung natatandaan natin, yung mga health emergency allowance, yung mga COVID allowances before hanggang ngayon hindi pa sa amin nakakakuha,” he said.</p><p>“Ngayon sana makakatikim kami ng 60 pesos na umento sa sahod, ngayon, nawala pa,” he added.</p><p>The group cited Article 126 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, which states that “no preliminary or permanent injunction or temporary restraining order may be issued by any court, tribunal or other entity against any proceedings before the Commission or the Regional Boards.”</p><p>“Ang nakakalungkot, nangingialam na ang RTC ng Pasig at magiging precedent ito,” Siazon said.</p><p>“Ang wage increase, ito ay palaman lang sa napakalaking problema ng health workers sa health care system natin,” he said.</p><p>The group is coordinating with 35 other health sector labor unions in the National Capital Region to decide if they should hold a region-wide rally in protest of the wage hike suspension, Siazon said.</p><p>The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) earlier called for calm, saying that the agency respects the judiciary and its proceedings.</p>
